Ficon-Bush Insurance Agency welcomed McVey’s Insurance Agency into our family in August of 2016.

Sam and Lynn McVey, owners of McVey’s Insurance Agency, are from Ansted in Fayette County. Sam graduated from WVU Tech in 1968 with a B.S. degree in Math. He taught math at Fayetteville High School from 1968 – 1972 and Nuttall High School from 1972 – 1978. While attending college and teaching, he helped his dad with the insurance business, taking it over full time in 1978. He worked his way to become a licensed independent insurance producer and sold numerous lines of insurance from several different insurance carriers. In 1979, he and Lynn opened a real estate agency, Southern Realty, where he was a realtor and broker. Throughout the years, Lynn worked in the insurance and real estate business while raising three children. She started working full time in 1994 and was a realtor and licensed insurance agent. They are members of Lover’s Leap Baptist Church where Sam has served as a trustee and deacon, and both have been Sunday School Teachers and Youth Group Leaders. Sam was a member of the Ansted Lions Club and Lynn served on the Ansted Town Council. Sam and Lynn married in 1967 and are the proud parents of Kim, Greg, and Dustin. They have enjoyed travelling to exciting places such as Tahiti, Bahamas, and Alaska. Now they are happy to start retirement and enjoy spending time with their children and grandchildren when they come home to visit.

Kim and her husband, Sonny, reside in the eastern panhandle of WV. Kim graduated from WVU Tech with B.S. degrees in Accounting and Business Management. She has an exciting career working for the US Department of Justice. Kim and Sonny enjoy travelling and spending time with Sonny’s grown children, Ashlee and Chip, and their dogs. They are active in their church and community.

Greg and his wife, Conli, reside at Fort Meade, Maryland, where he serves as a Chaplain in the US Army. Greg graduated from Liberty University and received Masters degrees from Liberty Seminary. Greg and Conli have three children, Ashley, Lexi, and Shane. They enjoy travelling and sightseeing, and of course, Mountaineer football!

Dustin and his wife, Tasha, reside in Ansted. Dustin graduated from BridgeValley Community and Technical College with an A.A.S. Board of Governors degree. He worked in the family business from 2006 until June 2016, as a licensed insurance producer and realtor. He currently serves in the United States Air Force. Dustin and Tasha have two children, Sailor and Cyris. They are very active in their church and community, and enjoy sports, lifting weights and time with family.

Sharon Skaggs started working as the secretary for McVey’s Insurance Agency and Southern Realty in June 1984. She became a licensed insurance agent in 1991 and recently decided to retire. She is married to Jerrold Skaggs and they have three children, six grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. She sang with the King’s Harmony Quartet for approximately 42 years and has served as pianist/organist at Lover’s Leap Baptist Church for 55 years as well as singing in the church choir.
